HOW TO CLEAN SHOWER DOORS AND GLASS

The space feels spa-like and luxurious with a sparkling, clean glass shower door. However, each shower can leave deposits on the surface that can ruin the appearance. The homeowner doesn't need to feel overwhelmed by the task of cleaning. Combine a daily cleaning routine with a weekly deep clean to keep your glass shower doors and enclosures looking new.

AVOID ABRASIVES

You should not use abrasive cleaners on any part of the shower enclosure, including the glass doors for hand showers or other fixtures. A shower door can be damaged by using a bristled brush or a plastic scouring mat. Most fixture finishes are also damaged by abrasives. Use only shower cleaning chemicals that can loosen dirt and scale.

MIXED DISH SOAP & VINEGAR

Some chemicals used in shower cleaning are too harsh for the person cleaning the shower.

Heat a cup of plain white vinegar in the microwave to heat it up. Next, add four tablespoons of dish soap. The mixture should be poured into a spray bottle. Cover the glass surfaces that are in need of cleaning with the spray bottle.

To remove heavy soap scum and scale deposits, use a microfiber glass scrubbing brush or soft sponge.

To ensure that the vinegar doesn’t cause any etching, rinse the glass after spraying. You can also use calcium and limescale-removal spray to remove hard water deposits.

SQUEEGEE AFTER EACH USE

It is possible to reduce the risk of glass damage by following a daily routine that minimizes water and soap residue. This applies to both hand and shower bases.

A shower squeegee works best for glass doors and enclosures.

To remove any soap residue or hair oil, rinse the glass and then use the rubber edge of the sponge to get rid of water droplets. Allow the water to dry on the glass immediately to make it look less luxurious.
